Strong flagship rival to Galaxy S26 Ultra & iPhone 17 Pro Max
It turns out OnePlus won’t be the first to debut Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 after all. That crown goes to Xiaomi, with its Xiaomi 17 series already up for preorders and set to launch in China on September 27. Still, OnePlus has a chance to claim the title of being the first brand to bring a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered phone to global markets, since Xiaomi’s rollout is currently limited to China.
OnePlus has finally pulled back the curtain on its upcoming flagship. At Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit in China, the company officially introduced the OnePlus 15 and confirmed several key details.
OnePlus 15 confirmed with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
During the event, Li Jie, president of OnePlus China, showcased a black variant of the phone. OnePlus confirmed that the 15 will run on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, positioning it as one of the very first devices with this powerful chipset. The design also looks closer to the recently released OnePlus 13T rather than its direct predecessor, the OnePlus 13.

A closer look at the display
OnePlus also revealed that the 15 will feature a 165Hz display. While exact size and resolution weren’t disclosed, earlier leaks pointed to a 6.78-inch 1.5K panel—slightly lower resolution than the 2K screen on the OnePlus 13.
Li Jie later posted an image of the device’s front on Weibo, highlighting its nearly bezel-less design. According to him, the bezels measure just 1.15mm all around, giving the phone a chin-free look.

What else to expect?
Perhaps the most exciting rumor is about a 7,000 mAh battery with 120W fast charging—a spec that would put it ahead of even Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra and Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max in raw battery capacity.
Final thoughts
On paper, the OnePlus 15 looks extremely promising: cutting-edge performance, a smooth high-refresh display, and possibly record-breaking battery life. Of course, we’ll need to wait for the official launch and some real-world hands-on time to see if it truly delivers. Either way, it’s shaping up to be one of the most interesting flagship contenders of the year.
