Sony 200MP IMX09E Camera Leak
Sony might be gearing up to make a big splash in smartphone photography. A fresh leak suggests that several upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered flagships — including the “Ultra” editions from Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi — could debut with a brand-new 200MP Sony sensor. If true, this would put Sony in direct competition with Samsung’s Galaxy Ultra lineup.

The leaked sensor is reportedly the Sony IMX09E, measuring 1/1.12 inches with 0.7μm pixels. While it’s a touch smaller than the LYT-900 seen on the Oppo Find X8 Ultra and Xiaomi 15 Ultra, it may end up being the largest 200MP sensor ever fitted into a smartphone. What’s more interesting is Sony’s new Hybrid-Frame HDR technology, said to push dynamic range beyond 100 dB, offering richer highlights and deeper shadows for more balanced photography.

Spec-wise, the IMX09E is positioned to go head-to-head with Samsung’s ISOCELL HP2 (1/1.3″), currently powering the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Thanks to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 ISP improvements, the sensor could also deliver 4x lossless zoom, a feature that would give Sony a serious edge in the ultra-high-resolution race.
Oppo is reportedly taking things up a notch, with leaks hinting that the Find X9 Ultra may carry two 200MP sensors in its quad-camera setup. Xiaomi, on the other hand, is rumored to combine the IMX09E with a massive 1-inch sensor in the Xiaomi 16 Ultra, potentially creating one of the most advanced camera systems ever on a phone. Both devices are expected to launch in early 2026.

If the leaks are accurate, the IMX09E could represent Sony’s boldest attempt yet at dominating the premium smartphone space. And with Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi pushing forward to challenge Samsung, 2026 is shaping up to be a landmark year for mobile photography.
