Xiaomi HyperOS 3 Update: Read Button Returns, Android 16 Rollout Expands, and 3.1 Skip List Revealed

Fan-Favorite Feature Returns with HyperOS 3

Xiaomi is rolling out HyperOS 3, and one small but beloved feature is back — the “Read” button on SMS notifications. This simple tap-to-mark option, missing since MIUI evolved into HyperOS, lets users mark texts as read without opening the app.

The feature is being rolled out gradually, confirmed by Xiaomi’s product team, starting with the Xiaomi MIX Flip and Redmi K70 series. Rollout began on October 28, 2025, and will continue in waves worldwide.

🟢 “It’s the kind of detail that makes your phone feel more natural again,” notes Xiaomi’s team — focusing on smooth usability instead of flashy design.

⚙️ HyperOS 3: Polished, Fast, and Smarter

Instead of a visual overhaul, HyperOS 3 focuses on refining the experience:

    • Cleaner animations

    • Faster app switching

    • Smarter battery management

    • Consistent interface transitions

These subtle changes improve performance while staying user-friendly — a reflection of Xiaomi’s maturing approach to software.

    🧭 Global Rollout Timeline

The stable Android 16-based HyperOS 3 update started in late October 2025 and is now expanding to more devices through November and December.

    Devices next in line include:

    • Poco F7 Pro / F7 / F7 Ultra

    • Poco X7 / X7 Pro / M6 / M6 Plus 5G / M7 4G

    • Redmi Note 14 Pro / Pro+ / 14 / 14 4G

    • Redmi 13 series (13, 13X, 13 5G, 13C)

    • Redmi A3 Pro

    • Xiaomi Pad Mini

Xiaomi expects to finish the global rollout by March 2026.

🚫 HyperOS 3.1 Skip List — These Devices Won’t Get It

Xiaomi also revealed that not all phones will receive the HyperOS 3.1 update. The new version will be based on Android 16, featuring a redesigned recent apps drawer and the new Hyper Island — inspired by Apple’s Dynamic Island.

However, phones limited to Android 15 will miss out. Here’s the list of models skipping HyperOS 3.1:

    Xiaomi:
    12, 12 Pro, 12S, 12S Pro, 12S Ultra, 12T, 12T Pro, Civi 3, Mix Fold 2, Pad 6 Max 14

    Redmi:
    13C, K50 Ultra, K60, K60 Pro, Note 12 Turbo, Note 12T Pro, Note 13 5G, Note 13R Pro

    POCO:
    F5, F5 Pro, M6 Pro, X6 Neo

    💡 Why It Matters

Xiaomi’s recent updates show a clear shift toward usability over gimmicks. Bringing back the “Read” button and refining existing features reflect the brand’s growing responsiveness to community feedback.

These small quality-of-life updates matter — they make devices feel faster, more intuitive, and aligned with real-world use.

    📅 Key Takeaways
