NVIDIA and South Korea Partner to Build Massive AI Ecosystem with Over 260,000 GPUs
NVIDIA and the South Korean government have announced a historic collaboration to build one of the world’s largest AI infrastructures — deploying more than 260,000 NVIDIA GPUs across sovereign clouds, research centers, and industrial AI factories. The initiative aims to position South Korea as a top global AI powerhouse, fueling innovation, digital transformation, and job creation across multiple industries.
Powering Korea’s AI Revolution
Under the leadership of South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT, the government will deploy 50,000 next-gen NVIDIA GPUs through the National AI Computing Center, and key providers such as NHN Cloud, Kakao Corp., and NAVER Cloud. The infrastructure will serve as the backbone for AI research, startups, and enterprises, enabling large-scale model training and sovereign AI development.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang praised Korea’s vision, saying:
“Korea’s leadership in technology and manufacturing positions it at the heart of the AI industrial revolution — where accelerated computing infrastructure becomes as vital as power grids and broadband.”
Samsung’s 50,000-GPU AI Factory
Samsung Electronics is building a massive AI factory with over 50,000 NVIDIA GPUs, aimed at enhancing semiconductor production and robotics. The factory will use NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, and CUDA-X to develop digital twins and automate chip manufacturing. Samsung will also fine-tune its HBM4 memory for NVIDIA’s AI chips, boosting performance by up to 20x.
SK Group and Hyundai Join the AI Push
SK Group is constructing an AI factory featuring another 50,000 NVIDIA GPUs, including RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition units, to support physical AI and robotics.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group, in partnership with NVIDIA, is investing around $3 billion to create AI factories for autonomous driving, smart manufacturing, and AI model training using 50,000 Blackwell GPUs.

NAVER Cloud Expands Its AI Infrastructure
NAVER Cloud plans to deploy over 60,000 NVIDIA GPUs, powering both sovereign AI and industry-specific models in areas like shipbuilding and security. This expansion will also support Korea’s national physical AI cluster, designed to integrate machine intelligence into real-world applications.
Advancing AI and Quantum Research
The Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) is collaborating with NVIDIA to establish a Center of Excellence for quantum computing, leveraging the HANGANG supercomputer and CUDA-Q platform. Research will focus on quantum-GPU hybrid systems and scientific AI model development using NVIDIA’s PhysicsNeMo framework.
Building the Next Generation of AI Startups
To foster innovation, NVIDIA is launching a Startup Alliance in Korea through its Inception program, giving startups access to GPU infrastructure, funding support from Korean VCs, and NVIDIA expertise.
The Big Picture
This monumental partnership aligns with Korea’s goal to become a top-three global AI power, strengthening its semiconductor, robotics, and automotive sectors. By combining government initiative, industrial strength, and NVIDIA’s computing power, South Korea is laying the foundation for the AI-driven economy of the future.
