Nvidia and Qualcomm Join India’s Deep Tech Alliance With $850 Million Boost
Tech giants Nvidia and Qualcomm Ventures have joined the India Deep Tech Alliance (IDTA) — a coalition of U.S. and Indian venture firms investing in deep tech startups — bringing total capital commitments to over $850 million.
Launched in September 2025 with an initial $1 billion fund, the IDTA aims to support startups in AI, semiconductors, robotics, quantum computing, space tech, and biotech. The move aligns with India’s new ₹1 trillion Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) scheme, designed to accelerate national R&D efforts and strengthen technological sovereignty.
Nvidia has joined as a strategic and technical advisor rather than an investor, providing guidance, AI training, and access to its Deep Learning Institute. “Nvidia’s support is a strong validation for India’s deep tech ecosystem,” said Sriram Viswanathan, founding managing partner of Celesta Capital and executive council member of IDTA.

Qualcomm Ventures, on the other hand, is joining as an investor. The company plans to connect Indian startups with its global partner networks and portfolio companies. “This is the most seminal moment for India’s deep tech sector,” Viswanathan said, noting that government initiatives and venture collaboration are creating new momentum for deep tech innovation.
The alliance now includes Activate AI, Chiratae Ventures, InfoEdge Ventures, Kalaari Capital, Singularity Holdings, YourNest Venture Capital, and others. It aims to nurture India’s next generation of deep tech startups by combining capital, mentorship, and global expertise over the next decade.
According to Nasscom and Zinnov, India’s deep tech funding grew 78% year-over-year to $1.6 billion in 2024, yet still lags behind global markets. The IDTA hopes to close that gap, attract more international investors, and turn Indian research-driven startups into future unicorns and public companies.
