Nothing OS 4.0 Open Beta Arrives for Nothing Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro
Nothing has officially expanded its Android 16-based Nothing OS 4.0 Open Beta to include the Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro, giving users of these midrange models a taste of the brand’s latest software experience. The update follows the earlier beta rollout for the Phone (3), Phone (2), Phone (2a), and Phone (2a) Plus earlier this month.
🌈 Fresh Design and Camera Enhancements
With Nothing OS 4.0, the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro gain the refreshed Nothing icon design that aligns with the company’s minimal, dot-matrix aesthetic. But the real highlight is a new “Stretch†Camera preset developed in collaboration with photographer Jordan Hemingway.
According to Nothing, this preset “enhances photos with deeper shadows and extended highlights for a distinctive, cinematic look straight from the Camera app.†It’s a creative addition for users who want moodier, film-inspired photography without needing heavy post-editing.
🔒 Introducing Lock Glimpse
Another standout feature of Nothing OS 4.0 is Lock Glimpse, which transforms the lock screen into an ever-changing visual hub. It displays high-quality wallpapers grouped into nine curated categories and adds “timely updates†and “useful content designed to enhance your experience.â€
Future updates will allow users to display their own photos on the lock screen — a feature that Nothing says is “coming soon.â€
âš™ï¸ Stable Yet Experimental
The rest of the Nothing OS 4.0 Open Beta features remain consistent with the earlier beta releases for other devices in the lineup. However, as with any beta build, users should expect occasional bugs or performance hiccups. Nothing advises installing the beta only on secondary devices.

Those interested in trying it can join the beta program before November 7, after which new registrations will close. Installation details are available o
