Motorola Begins Rolling Out Android 16 Update for Edge Series Smartphones
Motorola has officially started rolling out the Android 16 update for its Edge 60 series devices, introducing smarter notifications, improved connectivity, and enhanced battery insights. The update is currently limited to select Edge models, with the Razr foldables and Moto G series expected to receive it soon.
If you’re a Motorola user, there’s good news — Android 16 is here with a host of new upgrades. The update focuses on making the overall experience smoother, smarter, and more secure.
Key Android 16 Features for Motorola Users
One of the biggest highlights is Notification Auto Grouping, which neatly organizes alerts from the same app to reduce clutter. There’s also Instant Hotspot, a feature that lets users connect their tablets or Chromebooks to their phone’s hotspot instantly — as long as they’re signed in with the same Google account.
Motorola has also refined the system’s look with a cleaner, more minimal interface and updated menus. The Battery Insights section now provides deeper health stats and device diagnostics for users who like to track performance closely.
In addition, Android 16 introduces activity-based modes such as Sleeping, Driving, and Working, allowing users to tailor their experience based on what they’re doing. Security also gets a boost with Advanced Protection Access, offering quick tools for anti-theft protection and identity verification within settings.

Starting with the Edge 60 Series
The Android 16 rollout begins with the Edge 60 Pro, Edge 60 Fusion, and Edge 50 Pro. Other Motorola phones, including the Razr foldables and Moto G models, are expected to follow soon.
While Motorola hasn’t shared exact timelines for the next wave, this rollout already marks a faster release than last year’s Android 15, which reached devices in December 2024. That means Android 16 is arriving nearly two months earlier than expected — a promising sign of Motorola’s improved commitment to timely updates.
If your device hasn’t received the update yet, keep an eye on your Settings → System → Software Update section — it might arrive sooner than you think.
