MediaTek just dropped its new flagship chip, the Dimensity 9500, and honestly, this one looks impressive. It’s built around an all-big-core CPU setup — basically one ultra-fast 4.21GHz core, three strong supporting cores, and four efficient ones. Compared to the Dimensity 9400, you’re looking at around 32% faster single-core performance, 17% better multi-core, and — here’s the kicker — it manages all that while using less power. In fact, MediaTek says the main core alone cuts energy use by more than half.
On the graphics side, the Arm G1-Ultra GPU is where things get interesting. Expect console-like gaming at up to 120fps with ray tracing, plus better frame stability and battery savings. Storage gets a serious bump too with 4-lane UFS 4.1, meaning apps, games, and files should load almost instantly.
AI is another big focus here. The 9th-gen NPU 990 comes with MediaTek’s Generative AI Engine 2.0, which doubles compute power and can handle bigger models without melting your battery. We’re talking 4K image generation, faster LLM output, and smoother on-device AI tasks — things that could actually make AI on phones feel useful instead of gimmicky.
Camera lovers aren’t left out either. The new Imagiq 1190 ISP can shoot up to 200MP photos, record 4K 60fps portrait video, and track focus much better. Displays get smarter too with MiraVision Adaptive Display, which adjusts colors and contrast on the fly based on your surroundings.
Connectivity has also been tuned up — lower 5G and Wi-Fi power use, better bandwidth, and AI-powered network management for lower latency.
You’ll start seeing the Dimensity 9500 inside flagships like the Oppo Find X9 Pro and Vivo X300 later this year. And from the looks of it, this chip isn’t just here to compete with Qualcomm — it’s aiming to lead.
