Google Confirms No Change in Search Console API Update Speed
Google’s John Mueller has clarified that there has been no change in how quickly the Google Search Console API updates or syncs data. His response comes after several users raised concerns about recent slowdowns and data delays across Search Console, BigQuery, and related APIs.
Over the past few weeks, SEO professionals have reported longer gaps between live data and API updates, speculating that Google might have altered the sync frequency. However, Mueller set the record straight on Bluesky, replying simply:
“No, sometimes things are just a bit slow.”
In short, the system’s behavior remains the same — temporary slowdowns are not uncommon, and they don’t indicate any backend change in how data is processed or delivered.
Delays in Search Console data have been observed before, even without code or infrastructure modifications. These minor hiccups are part of normal fluctuations in Google’s data flow and typically resolve on their own.
So, while it might feel like the API is lagging, Google confirms nothing fundamental has changed in how Search Console data refreshes or syncs.
