Ferrari is finally going electric, and it’s doing it in true Ferrari style — with power, personality, and plenty of drama. The company has revealed new details about its first EV, called the Ferrari Elettrica, set to make its full debut in 2026.
At a special event in Maranello, Italy, Ferrari engineers gave a behind-the-scenes look at how the Elettrica works — and even hinted at what it might sound like.
Power and Performance
Under the hood — or rather, beneath the chassis — the Elettrica packs four electric motors, one for each wheel, delivering over 1,000 horsepower. That’s serious speed, even by Ferrari standards. But the company says it’s not just chasing numbers.
According to Gianmaria Fulgenzi, Ferrari’s Chief Product Development Officer, creating massive power with electric motors is easy. What matters, he says, is how the car corners and feels. He even joked that many modern EVs are like “elephants” — fast in a straight line but clumsy in turns.
That’s where Ferrari’s engineering magic comes in. Each wheel’s motor can precisely control power to maximize grip and handling. The Elettrica can even steer its rear wheels independently, giving it incredible agility — and yes, the ability to slide a bit when you want to have fun.
Smarter Suspension, Sharper Control
Ferrari’s latest active suspension system, first seen in the Purosangue SUV and F80 supercar, also appears here. Instead of traditional valves and oil, the dampers use electric motors to instantly adjust ride height and stiffness for each wheel.
All of this adds up to what CEO Benedetto Vigna calls a “Ferrari that drives like no other EV on the road.”

The Sound of Electricity — Ferrari Style
Of course, a Ferrari without sound would be unthinkable. But rather than faking engine noise, Ferrari has found a unique solution. Inside the rear motors is an accelerometer that picks up their real vibrations. Those signals are then amplified digitally, creating a sound that’s 100% genuine — directly from the electric motors themselves.
Fulgenzi compares it to an electric guitar: the vibrations are real, and the amplifier just makes them sing. Ferrari hasn’t let anyone hear the final result yet, but it promises to be something special.
A Design by Jony Ive’s LoveFrom
Perhaps the most surprising part of the project is its design. Ferrari has teamed up with LoveFrom, the studio founded by legendary designer Jony Ive — the man behind Apple’s most iconic products. This will be LoveFrom’s first car design, and given Ive’s minimalist style, expect something sleek, modern, and timeless.
While Ferrari is keeping the Elettrica’s looks under wraps, it has confirmed one major detail: it’ll have four doors and four seats. So think of it less as a pure sports car and more as a grand tourer — luxurious, fast, and comfortable, but still capable of unleashing Ferrari’s signature excitement.

Range, Battery, and Future Plans
The Elettrica will feature a 122 kWh battery pack divided into 15 modules, each with 14 NMC pouch cells supplied by SK On. Ferrari expects it to offer around 330 miles (530 km) of range on a full charge.
Interestingly, Ferrari says the battery tech will evolve, allowing the company to keep improving the car’s chemistry and performance for years — perhaps even decades.
The Bottom Line
Ferrari’s first EV represents a huge shift for the brand. Fourteen years ago, then-CEO Luca di Montezemolo said Ferrari would never make an electric car. Yet here we are — and not only is Ferrari doing it, but it’s doing it with ambition, style, and a little help from one of the world’s most famous designers.
We’ll have to wait until early 2026 to see (and hear) the Elettrica in action, but one thing’s certain: Ferrari’s electric era is about to begin — and it’s going to be loud.
