After more than two decades as a major name in streaming, Hulu will no longer exist as a standalone platform. Disney confirmed that the service will be fully integrated into Disney+ by 2026, with the transition starting this October.
Hulu Becomes Disney+’s Global Entertainment Hub
Starting October 8, Hulu will replace the Star brand in international Disney+ markets, serving as the go-to destination for adult-oriented programming. While Hulu’s standalone app will disappear in the U.S., subscribers will gradually see more Hulu content integrated within Disney+, marking Disney’s push toward a single, unified streaming experience.
Hulu launched in 2007, quickly becoming a household name for current-season TV and original series like The Handmaid’s Tale. Disney recently acquired full control of Hulu after its deal with Comcast, setting the stage for this major consolidation.

What This Means for Subscribers
For now, Hulu and Disney+ subscriptions remain separate, but by 2026, all Hulu content will live inside Disney+. Disney believes this consolidation will make it easier for users to discover shows while strengthening its position in a crowded streaming market.
The move marks a significant shift in Disney’s strategy, consolidating multiple brands into a single global platform while leveraging Hulu’s international brand recognition.
