Copilot on Windows Can Now Create Office Documents and Connect to Gmail
Microsoft has taken a big step forward with its Copilot app on Windows, adding the ability to create Office documents directly from chat and even connecting your Gmail or Outlook accounts for smarter AI assistance.
With this new update, Copilot can now generate Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and even PDF files from your chat interface. Simply describe what you want — like a report, spreadsheet, or presentation — and Copilot instantly turns your ideas and notes into fully formatted documents.
Microsoft says that for longer responses (600+ characters), Copilot will also show a quick export button, letting you send content directly to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or PDF with a single click.
That’s not all — users can now link their Outlook or Gmail accounts to Copilot, allowing it to pull data like emails, contacts, or files from connected platforms such as OneDrive, Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Calendar. For example, you can ask Copilot to “show all invoices from last month” or “find John’s email,” and it’ll fetch them instantly.

This new capability is currently rolling out to Windows Insiders, with a broader release planned soon for all Windows 11 users. It comes ahead of a redesigned OneDrive app, expected next year, featuring AI-powered slideshows, a new gallery view, and smarter editing tools.
Microsoft’s push to deeply integrate Copilot across Windows shows just how central AI is becoming to everyday productivity.
