AT&T Raises Internet Prices Again Despite $4.9 Billion Profit
Frustrated with your internet bill? You’re not alone. AT&T has announced yet another price hike for its home internet plans, increasing rates by $5 per month starting December 1, 2025. The move follows similar increases in 2023 and 2024, leaving many customers questioning the company’s motives — especially after AT&T reported a $4.9 billion quarterly profit earlier this year.
Why the Price Hike?
According to AT&T, the change is due to rising operational costs and the need to “maintain high-quality service.” In a statement to The Verge, an AT&T spokesperson said the company is adjusting internet plan rates to manage growing expenses while continuing to invest in infrastructure and customer experience.
However, this explanation hasn’t convinced users, many of whom expressed frustration on Reddit and other forums. Some customers noted that fiber plans now cost as much as $85 per month, while others said they had to contact support to switch to “newer pricing” to offset the increase.

Who Is Affected
The new price hike will not apply to new customers who joined within the past year or those enrolled in AT&T’s Access program for low-income users. The company will also continue offering discounts for customers who enable Autopay and Paperless Billing — up to $10 off per month for eligible payment methods.
A Trend That’s Hard to Ignore
This latest increase marks the third consecutive year of AT&T price adjustments. In November 2024 and 2023, the company similarly raised rates, citing higher operating costs. Despite these repeated hikes, AT&T continues to post massive profits, leading to criticism that customers are being asked to pay more without any significant improvement in service quality.

Customer Backlash
Many subscribers took to social media to express disappointment, calling the increase “unfair” and “greedy.” Others said they’re now considering switching to competing broadband providers as cheaper alternatives become available in their area.
The Bottom Line
While AT&T argues that these changes are necessary to keep up with rising costs, the move adds to the growing frustration among U.S. broadband users facing year-after-year price increases. For some, this latest hike might be the final push to explore new internet options.
