Android Auto 2025 Gets Smarter and Safer with Call Screening & Call Notes
Google is rolling out two new features to Android Auto that promise to make driving less distracting and much safer: Call Screening and Call Notes. These updates build on Android Auto’s hands-free experience, helping you stay focused on the road while still managing important conversations.
Call Screening Comes to Your Car
With Call Screening, Android Auto can filter incoming calls directly through your phone before they reach you. If an unknown number rings, the system will ask the caller to identify themselves and explain the reason for the call. The summary is then displayed on your infotainment screen, letting you decide whether to accept or decline the call—without losing focus on driving.
This is especially handy for avoiding spam calls or interruptions from unknown numbers while keeping your hands on the wheel.
Call Notes: Never Miss the Details
Later this year, Android Auto will also gain Call Notes, a feature that creates a quick text summary of your phone conversations. Originally introduced with the Pixel 9 series, it’s now making its way into cars—perfect for drivers who can’t jot down important details mid-drive. For professionals handling work calls on the go, this feature is a real time-saver.
Why It Matters
Together, Call Screening and Call Notes make Android Auto feel smarter, safer, and more practical. Google’s approach mirrors Apple’s, which recently added similar functionality to iOS 26 and CarPlay. However, the deeper integration into Android Auto could make Google’s version even more useful.
Whether you’re avoiding distractions from unknown callers or keeping track of business conversations, these features turn Android Auto into more than just a navigation and media system—it becomes your smart driving assistant.
