Amazon Cuts 14000 Jobs as Company Leans Further Into AI- Beth Galetti statement
Amazon has confirmed another major round of layoffs, cutting around 14,000 corporate positions as the company restructures to focus more heavily on artificial intelligence (AI) and automation.
Major Workforce Reduction Across Departments
The company did not specify which departments were affected, but reports from Bloomberg suggest that the cuts span gaming, logistics, payments, and cloud-computing divisions. This move follows months of speculation that Amazon was preparing for a larger shakeup, with early estimates predicting up to 30,000 potential job losses.
Amazon’s Push Toward AI
In a statement, Beth Galetti, Amazon’s Senior Vice President of People Experience and Technology, said the decision reflects the company’s commitment to adapting quickly in an AI-driven world.
“This generation of AI is the most transformative technology since the Internet,†Galetti said. “It’s enabling companies to innovate faster than ever before. To stay ahead, we need to be more lean, agile, and focused.â€
Amazon believes that reducing management layers and shifting to a “faster, ownership-driven†structure will help it stay competitive as AI tools become central to every business operation.
Previous Layoffs and Industry Trend
This isn’t the first time Amazon has trimmed its workforce. Over the past few years, the company has carried out smaller layoffs across departments like Prime Video, AWS (Amazon Web Services), and even newly unionized warehouse operations.
The move mirrors a broader tech industry trend in 2025, with companies such as Google, Meta, and Microsoft restructuring teams as they integrate AI automation into daily workflows.
What It Means for Amazon
While Amazon continues to “perform well,†according to its leadership, the decision highlights how quickly AI is reshaping corporate structures. The company aims to invest more in AI-powered tools that can streamline operations, logistics, and cloud services—potentially reducing the need for traditional roles.
