Nikon ZR: Nikon’s First-Ever Cinema Camera
Nikon has officially stepped into the world of cinema cameras with the launch of the Nikon ZR, the first model in its brand-new Z Cinema series. This lightweight, full-frame camera is built for both up-and-coming filmmakers and seasoned professionals, combining Nikon’s imaging expertise with RED’s powerful color science.
What Makes It Special?
Pro-Grade Recording: The ZR shoots up to 6K/60p in 12-bit RAW with RED’s new R3D NE RAW codec, delivering over 15 stops of dynamic range. It also supports N-RAW, ProRes RAW, and other formats, giving creators plenty of workflow options.
Low-Light Ready: With dual base ISOs of 800 and 6400, you get flexibility for both bright outdoor shoots and dark indoor sets. ISO can be tweaked later in post without quality loss.
Real-Time Color: The camera lets you load up to 10 LUTs (including RED’s Creative LUT Kit) so you can preview your final look on set.
Groundbreaking Audio: The ZR introduces 32-bit float audio recording with both internal and external mics. Backed by Nokia’s OZO Audio tech, it offers five sound pickup patterns for cinematic sound capture.
Built for Filmmakers: At just 1.19 lbs, the fanless magnesium alloy body is lightweight yet durable, with dust and drip resistance. You get uninterrupted recording for up to 125 minutes.
